The Problem
This tank at a wastewater treatment plant was severely corroded and was no longer usable.
Unconventional Solutions was called in and they produced a plan to fix the tank. This fix would extend the life of the tank, save the company the cost of replacing the tank, and save the company the cost of the downtime to demo and rebuild a new tank.
The Substrate
Metal Tank
The Solution
The tank was grit blasted and Resichem 506 AluPrime was applied where there was severe corrosion.
RESIMETAL 101 Metal Repair Paste was then applied to the severely corroded areas to repair the metal. Steel panels were manufactured; grit blasted, primed, and secured to the tank base with additional RESIMETAL 101 Metal Repair Paste.
After the panels cured in place, two coats of Resichem 555 Resinox were applied to the tank base exterior and panels to protect it from further damage.
