4 Proven Ways to Reduce Corrosion Cost

We can make your job easier by being your experts in recommending the right coatings and Vapor phase Corrosion Inhibitors. As an independent distributor, we will get you the right coating for the right application. More importantly, we will get it there on time and on budget, so you can backfill quicker or keep your project on time and on budget.

  1. Utilize protective coatings
Coatings like Cortec Ecoshield® 386 W can provide 1000 hours of salt spray performance
at 1 mil (25 microns) DFT and protect any coating surface from the harmful effects of UV
attack, like FBE sitting in a pipe yard, or even if you just want to protect your newly painted
surface and keep it shiny longer.
  2. Prevent rust with inhibitors
When it comes to rust, sometimes prevention is the best route. Vapor phase Inhibitors can
provide constant protection from rust. The VpCIs emit vapors that form a molecular layer
on metal surfaces to protect components during operations, shipping, or storage. VpCIs
provide long-term protection against corrosion even in the presence of adverse conditions
including salt, moisture, airborne contaminants, H2S, SO2, NH3, and others.
  3. Employ cathodic protection
Cathodic protection is best utilized in conjunction with protective coatings, and it’s a
technique used to control the corrosion of a metal surface by making it the cathode of an
    electrochemical cell.
  4. Check your design and material selection
Solutions like Cortec CorrVerter can be used for application to rusty or poorly prepared steel
surfaces where further corrosion protection is required and good surface preparation is
difficult to achieve. CorrVerter is formulated to penetrate rust, eliminate rust, penetrate to
the bare metal, and stop further rusting.
