This major natural gas company needed a solution to keep their larger critical spare parts corrosion free while in storage for an unknown future date of use. They need to keep larger, more expensive spare parts on hand, and ready to use, because when a part like that is needed for replacement, they do not have weeks or months to wait in lead time for the part.
The USI Team partnered with Cortec Vapor phase Corrosion Inhibitor (VpCI®) products to give this client the long lasting, cost effective solution that they needed.
The USI Team chose a solution of Cortec’s VpCI®-309 Pouch and MilCorr® VpCI® Shrink Film. The VpCI®-309 Pouch contains a Vapor phase Corrosion Inhibitor (VpCI®) powder for corrosion protection of ferrous metals in recessed areas, interior cavities, and voids. VpCI®-309 Pouch provides an extremely efficient dry method to protect metals within an enclosed space. The VpCI® vaporizes and adsorbs on all metal surfaces reaching all exposed areas including recessed sections and interior cavities. The MilCorr® VpCI®Shrink Film is a heavy-duty film with VpCI® that provides top-notch universal corrosion protection as well as UV light protection. Parts sealed within the film are protected against salt air and humid environments, moister, aggressive industrial atmospheres, and dissimilar metal corrosion.
The VpCI®-309 Pouch was placed inside the emergency bi-pass valve. Then the MilCorr® VpCI® Shrink Film was sealed around the emergency bi-pass valve. Together, the long-lasting corrosion protection needed was achieved.
