Power Plant Roof Repair

Power Plant Roof Repair

The Problem

The roof on this major power plant was neglected as the plant was scheduled for closure in three to five years. Tearing off and putting on a new roof was not financially feasible. The plant did not want to go another year without repairing all the leaks because of safety issues and possible freezing during the winter.

This customer had a good experience with other USI solutions, so they called us to avoid expensive replacement.

The Substrate

Bituminous

The Solution

Weeds and trees were removed and the roof was thoroughly cleaned, free of dust and debris. Next, we applied one grey coat of ResiChem 559 BP Primer for Bituminous Roofs. Then we applied two white coats of 550 WR Membrane. Since the repair, the plant has had several severe rainfalls with no leaks. 1/20/25 UPDATE: They did get 5 years out of roof until the tore the building down, and Andy Dobrzanski of DTE was pleased with the materials select and craftsmanship of the installation team. He even got promoted a few years later.
