The Problem

This 6” 180-psi Nitrogen Line that was suffering from severe corrosion supplied a key chemical manufacturer. Unconventional Solutions was called in and asked to offer a solution.

The Solution

After proper SSPC-SP-1 and SSPC-SP-2 prep, Resimetal 302 Repair Cement was used to fill in pitted steel. Resimetal 301 Fiberglass Resin, along with Resimac 703 Glass Tape built a pipe rehabilitation system giving hoop strength and created a pipe over a pipe incase anything fails in the future.

Resichem 501 CRSG was used to coat the entire flange and pipe to provide a robust corrosion protection system and to prevent further degradation. The flange was in good condition so Viscotaq Mastic and Denso EZ Wrap manufactured by Denso were recommended for corrosion protection on this area.
