Bridge Encapsulation

Bridge Encapsulation

The Problem

This Michigan DOT bridge was starting to corrode because the previous coating system was failing prematurely. The customer wanted a solution that was minimal prep, easy to use, and would provide durable corrosion protection.

The Substrate

Steel

The Solution

The bridge was hand tool prepped to SP-2, then two coats of RESICHEM 555 Resinox was applied by brush and roller. RESICHEM 555 Resinox is a water-based, anti-corrosive encapsulation coating with UV resistance for metal and concrete structures. MDOT has been using this coating since 2006. It can be applied by brush, roller, or spray equipment, in cold temperatures, or in high humidity conditions.
